What does an Infiniti car key cost in Arlington?

As of September 2026, an Infiniti car key in Arlington costs $200 to $600 cut and programmed at your vehicle, and the two things that decide where you land are the key type and whether you still have one working key. A spare Intelligent Key added while a key still works is the common case and usually lands between $220 and $550. All keys lost starts at $280. Call or text (817) 646-7134 with the model and year for a flat rate before anyone is dispatched.

Infiniti owners in Arlington tend to arrive at this page after a dealer quote. The short version of what follows: the dealer is not doing anything a properly equipped mobile locksmith cannot do on the models you are likely driving, and the security system underneath the badge is one we program every week under a different name.

The Infiniti key is a Nissan key with a premium shell

This is the fact that explains most of the pricing on this page. Infiniti is Nissan's luxury division, and almost every Infiniti built in the last twenty years uses the same two security systems Nissan uses:

  • NATS, the Nissan Anti-Theft System, the immobiliser that decides whether the engine is allowed to run.
  • Intelligent Key, Nissan's proximity system, which lets the car detect the fob in your pocket and unlock the doors and enable the start button.

The programming workflow for an Infiniti is the same workflow we use on a Nissan Murano or Pathfinder. The security PIN comes from the same place, the equipment talks to the same modules, and the session takes the same amount of time.

What changes is the fob. Infiniti proximity fobs are premium parts with their own housings and part numbers, and they cost more to source. That hardware difference is almost the entire gap between the two bands this site publishes:

MakeTypical key band, Arlington 2026What drives the difference
Nissan$160 - $520Same NATS / Intelligent Key system
Infiniti$200 - $600Same system, premium fob hardware

If you have been quoted a figure for an Infiniti key that is several hundred dollars above the top of that band, the difference is not the security system. It is the service department's labour rate and parts margin on a part we carry.

Infiniti key cost by key type

Every figure below comes from this site's published service and brand bands and is on-site mobile work, so there is no tow line hiding underneath it.

Infiniti key situationArlington price, 2026Typical time on-site
Older bladed NATS transponder key, spare$200 - $28020 - 30 min
Intelligent Key (proximity fob), spare, one key still works$220 - $55020 - 40 min
Programming a fob you already own$80 - $22015 - 30 min
All keys lost, push-button Infiniti$280 - $85045 - 90 min
Ignition or steering lock fault behind the "no key" symptom$180 - $480varies after diagnosis

Two notes on reading that table.

The all-keys-lost row is a different job, not a surcharge. It has its own section below, and its ceiling is the site-wide all-keys-lost band rather than the brand band, because the hardest Infiniti cases, a first key written to an empty system on a newer model, can sit above the brand's typical range.

The last row is not a key. A meaningful share of "my Infiniti will not see the key" calls turn out to be the steering lock or the ignition rather than the fob. If that is your symptom, read the Q50 and QX60 ignition repair guide before you buy anything.

Infiniti key cost by model

Model matters less than key type on an Infiniti, because the same architecture runs across the range. It still helps to know where your model sits.

Q50 (2014 to present) and Q60 (2017 to present). Proximity Intelligent Key with push-button start across the range. These are the most common Infinitis we see in Arlington, and a spare fob with a working key present is a routine session. All keys lost is fully supported on-site with the PIN retrieved through authorised access.

G35, G37 and the Q40. The sedan and coupe that preceded the Q50. Most came with an Intelligent Key and push-button start, some earlier trims with a bladed key. Parts availability for these is still good, which keeps them toward the lower half of the Intelligent Key range.

QX50 and the earlier EX. The compact crossover. The older EX and first QX50 share hardware with the G-car generation; the redesigned QX50 from 2019 onward uses a newer fob. Both are programmable on-site.

QX60 and the JX35 before it. The three-row family SUV and a close relative of the Nissan Pathfinder. Proximity key throughout, and one of the most frequent Infiniti calls from South Arlington neighbourhoods.

QX80 and the QX56. The full-size SUV. Proximity key, premium fob, and the model where the hardware cost pushes the price toward the top of the Infiniti band. The QX80 and Q60 key replacement guide covers that pair in more depth.

FX, M and Q70. The older crossover and the large sedan. Intelligent Key, supported, with fob availability varying by year.

QX30. The exception. It was built on a platform shared with a Mercedes-Benz model, so its key system is not the Nissan one. We quote it separately after confirming the year and key.

I30, I35, G20 and QX4. The older generation, with bladed NATS transponder keys. The cheapest Infiniti keys on the road, and the quickest to make.

Why all keys lost costs more on an Infiniti

With one working key present, adding a second is a short conversation with the car. Take the working key away and three things change.

The PIN has to be retrieved first. Infiniti's immobiliser requires a security code before it will accept a new key. On older models that code can be derived from the body control module. On newer models it sits behind the secure-data access that the NASTF Vehicle Security Professional programme governs, and it is released only after ownership is verified.

The emergency blade has to be originated. Every Infiniti Intelligent Key hides a small metal blade inside the fob for the door lock. With no key to copy, that blade is cut from vehicle data tied to the VIN. You may never use it, but the day your fob battery dies in a parking lot you will want it to work.

Every key gets re-registered. On most Infiniti models the programming session rebuilds the list of trusted keys from the keys present. Any key not in the vehicle at that moment is dropped. That is a security feature, and it is why you should bring every key you still own, including the one in the kitchen drawer you are not sure about.

Note: A lost Infiniti key that you never recover is only truly dead once the vehicle's key list has been rebuilt without it. Until then, whoever holds it may be able to start the car. An all-keys-lost visit closes that gap as a matter of course.

The full picture of how a no-key job works, and why the time estimates are what they are, is in our lost all keys guide, and our all keys lost service page covers what the visit includes.

What changes an Infiniti quote

Beyond key type and whether a key still works, five things move the number.

Model year within a generation. Mid-cycle refreshes sometimes changed fob part numbers without changing anything visible. The year and trim let us bring the right part the first time.

Whether you supply the fob. Programming a fob you already own sits in the $80 to $220 key fob programming band. It is cheaper, but only when the fob is the correct part and has not been locked to another car.

Time of day. Evening and weekend calls are available and quoted up front.

Where the vehicle is. All our work is mobile, so a car in a driveway in North Arlington costs the same to reach as one in a parking garage near the Entertainment District. What matters is access to the vehicle, not the address.

What the fault actually is. If the problem turns out to be the steering lock or the ignition rather than the key, the job changes category and the quote changes with it, before any work begins.

Locksmith versus dealer on an Infiniti

For the common Infiniti key jobs, the practical differences are three.

The vehicle does not move. An Infiniti with no working key cannot drive to a service department. A dealer visit on an all-keys-lost Infiniti starts with a tow, and the tow alone can erase the saving from a lower parts price.

The appointment is today, not next week. Service departments schedule key work around everything else they do. A mobile visit is scheduled around you.

The price is quoted before anyone is dispatched. You know the number before the van leaves.

There are a small number of cases where the dealer is the right answer: a failed body control module that needs replacing rather than programming, a vehicle still under a warranty claim you want the dealer to own, and any vehicle whose ownership documents do not resolve. We will tell you on the phone if yours is one of them. For the broader comparison across makes, our locksmith versus dealer cost breakdown works the numbers through in detail.

Before you pay for a key, rule out the battery

A surprising share of "my Infiniti key is dead" calls are a flat coin cell in a fob that is otherwise fine. Two quick checks:

Hold the fob against the start button and press it. Infiniti proximity systems can read a fob with a dead battery at very short range. If the car starts that way, your key is intact and you need a battery, not a key. The full backup sequence is in our dead key fob battery guide.

Watch the dash message after a battery change. If the car keeps warning about a low key battery after you have fitted a fresh cell, the cause is usually the cell itself or a second fob in the car, not the key. Our guide to a key fob battery low warning that will not go away walks through that case.

How the Arlington visit works

The van carries Intelligent Key fobs for the current Infiniti range, bladed transponder blanks for the older models, a cutting machine and the diagnostic equipment that talks to the Nissan-architecture modules. The vehicle stays where it is.

  1. Quote. You tell us the model, year and whether a key still works. We give you a flat price.
  2. Verification. Photo ID matched against the registration or title, before any code is retrieved. In Texas the locksmith doing this work operates under the Texas DPS Private Security Program.
  3. Cut and program. The emergency blade is cut, the PIN is retrieved, and every key present is registered.
  4. Test. Start, stop, passive entry on the door handles, remote lock and unlock, and the emergency blade in the driver door, before we leave.

Federal safety bodies still count immobilisers among the most effective theft deterrents in service, and the NHTSA vehicle theft prevention resources explain why those systems are deliberately hard to get around. That difficulty is the reason key work needs the equipment and the verification described above, and it is most of what an Infiniti key costs.

For the platform view, see our Infiniti key programming page, and for the Nissan side of the family, our Nissan key programming page and the Murano fob programming guide, which runs on the same architecture.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an Infiniti car key cost in Arlington TX?

As of September 2026, an Infiniti key in Arlington runs $200 to $600 cut and programmed at your vehicle. An older bladed transponder key sits at the bottom of that band, a spare Intelligent Key added while one key still works usually lands between $220 and $550, and an all-keys-lost job on a push-button Infiniti starts at $280 because it is a longer, verified session.

Why does an Infiniti key cost more than a Nissan key?

The security system is the same Nissan Intelligent Key architecture and the programming workflow is identical, so the labour is not the difference. The difference is the fob hardware. Infiniti proximity fobs are premium parts with different housings and part numbers, and they cost more to source than the Nissan equivalents, which is why the Infiniti band here is $200 to $600 against $160 to $520 for Nissan.

Can a locksmith program an Infiniti Intelligent Key without the dealer?

Yes, on the models that make up almost every Infiniti on Arlington roads. The Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60 and QX80 are all programmable on-site, including all keys lost, using the security PIN retrieved through NASTF-gated access after ownership is verified. The dealer route adds a service appointment and a tow if the vehicle cannot start, which a mobile visit avoids.

How long does it take to replace an Infiniti key?

A spare Intelligent Key added while you still have one working key usually takes 20 to 40 minutes at your vehicle. An all-keys-lost session takes longer, typically 45 to 90 minutes, because the PIN has to be retrieved and verified first and the emergency blade inside the fob has to be cut to your locks from vehicle data rather than copied.

Will a used Infiniti fob from online work on my car?

Sometimes, but it is a gamble. The fob has to match the exact part number and frequency for your model and year, and many used Infiniti fobs are already locked to a previous vehicle and cannot be rewritten. Send us the part number and FCC ID from the back of the fob before you buy, and we will tell you whether it can be programmed before you spend anything.

Does a lost Infiniti key need to be erased from the car?

It should be. When a new key is programmed on most Infiniti models, the session re-registers the keys that are present, so a lost key that is not present is dropped from the list and can no longer start the vehicle. Bring every key you still have to the appointment so none of them is dropped by accident.

What is different about the Infiniti QX30?

The QX30 was built on a platform shared with a Mercedes-Benz model, so its key system is not the Nissan Intelligent Key used across the rest of the Infiniti range. It is quoted separately after we confirm the exact year and key. If you drive a QX30, mention the model by name when you call so the right equipment and parts are on the van.

What do I need to have ready for an Infiniti key appointment?

A photo ID that matches the registration or title, the vehicle itself accessible, and every key you still have for it. Proof of ownership is required before any key is produced or any PIN is retrieved, with no exceptions. The year and model, and whether you press a start button or turn a key, let us quote accurately before anyone is dispatched.
