All Keys Lost (AKL) in Arlington TX

All-keys-lost (AKL) is the trade term for replacing keys on a vehicle where no working key exists. It requires reading the immobilizer security data (sometimes via the diagnostic port, sometimes via direct EEPROM read) and programming a fresh key from scratch. We have the tools, training, and NASTF VSP credentials to do this on-site.

FAQ

All Keys Lost (AKL) — FAQ

Is AKL different from a regular lost-key job?

Yes. With one working key, programming a second is fast — the security module is already in a known state. With zero keys, the module must be unlocked from a virgin/reset state, which on many modern vehicles requires NASTF Secure Data Release Model (SDRM) access or direct EEPROM read of the immobilizer chip.

Do I need to be the registered owner?

Yes — and we will verify before any work begins. We require: photo ID, title or registration with your name, and the VIN visible at the windshield. Per Texas DPS requirements, this is the same proof-of-ownership chain dealers use.

How long does an AKL really take in the driveway?

Most Toyotas, Hondas, Fords, and Chevys: 60–90 minutes. European cars (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW) with Component Protection or CAS modules: 90–180 minutes. We quote the upper end before dispatch and beat it where possible.

What if my car uses a smart key — can you still do AKL?

Yes — AKL works for both blade transponders and proximity smart keys. The cost rises ($450–$850 typical for smart key AKL vs $280–$550 for blade) because of the more expensive fob hardware, not because the labor is harder.

Locked out or lost your keys? We can be there in 20–45 minutes.

VIN-based flat-rate quote in writing before we dispatch. No surprises at the curb.
